Karolína Muchova defeated Naomi Osaka in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Tuesday, securing her first All England Club semifinal berth.
Osaka arrived with notable momentum, having eliminated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the previous round. The Japanese star, however, could not extend her run beyond the quarterfinals.
Breakthrough at the All England Club
The Czech had never advanced past the Wimbledon quarterfinals before this edition. Beating the player who had just knocked out the top seed gave the result an added dimension.
Muchova will learn her semifinal opponent once the remaining draw matchups are completed.
