Nuno Borges beat Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the round of 16 at the Cincinnati Masters for the first time.

The Portuguese number one secured his first career win over Rublev in their sixth meeting. The victory sends Borges into the last 16 of the Masters 1000 event.

According to journalist José Morgado, this marks Borges’ sixth career round of 16 appearance at a Masters 1000 tournament and his second in consecutive weeks, following Montreal. It is also his third win over a top-20 opponent this year.

Rublev was the 18th seed in the tournament.
